Cost to renew certifications and membership
Your renewal costs are based on highest-level certification. You can find the breakdown for each certification level in the table below. All prices are in USD.
To renew your certification, you'll need to earn the required number of SEUs and pay a renewal fee. The purpose of the SEU requirement is to support ongoing learning and professional development during each renewal cycle. Renewing your certification(s) also allows your membership to stay active to enjoy exclusive benefits. For more information about why it's valuable to maintain your certifications, please see Scrum Alliance member benefits.
How is the certification renewal fee calculated?
The renewal fee you will pay will be based on the highest-level certification you earned. You won't pay multiple fees for renewing more than one certification, but additional SEUs may be required. See below for some examples:
- If your highest-level certification is foundational, such as Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), or Certified Agile Leader 1 (CAL 1), you'll pay $100. For example, if you have a CSM and CSPO, it will be $100 to renew both of them.
- If you earned an advanced certification, such as Advanced Certified ScrumMaster (A-CSM), you’ll pay $175 to renew both your A-CSM and CSM certification.
- If you earned a professional certification, such as Certified Scrum Professional (CSP-SM), you'll pay $250 to renew your CSP-SM, A-CSM, and CSM
Please note that microcredentials do not expire, so no renewal fee or SEUs are required for these credentials. You can also renew your certification(s) without submitting SEUs or paying the renewal fee by taking another Scrum Alliance certification course.
