A Scrum Education Unit® (SEU®) is simply a credit you earn by completing any learning opportunity that furthers your knowledge as a scrum or agile practitioner. These are required to renew your certification(s) unless you attend a new certification course. SEUs follow a 1:1 ratio, where one hour of participation is equal to one SEU.
There’s a wide variety of ways to earn these continuing education units. Below are common examples:
- Earn a new microcredential
- Attend a Global or Regional Scrum Gathering
- Participate in a local user group
- Read articles in our Resource Library
- Watch a webinar
- Read a book about scrum or agile topics
- Write a blog or article about scrum or agility
- Participate in a training or learning session provided by your company
- Volunteer in some way to give back to the agile community
Please note you're not limited to these examples; any type of continuing education relevant to scrum or agile topics is eligible. Please visit this page for more information: Scrum Education Units.
To submit your continuing education (or SEUs) toward renewal, please do the following:

- Scroll down to the section titled My SEU Log and select Add or Edit SEUs
- From the Select an Activity Type dropdown, choose an activity type.
- In the Activity Description section, describe the activity
- In the Activity Date section, select the date the activity was completed using the calendar widget
- Enter the hours and minutes spent on the activity in whole numbers
Please note that an SEU can only be used once and cannot be reused if it was previously used for certification renewal.
