What happened to the CAL Essentials, Teams, and Organizations?
On April 15, 2024, the courses known as CAL Essentials, CAL Teams, CAL Organizations were retired. These offerings were redesigned to better align the CAL program to the overall Scrum Alliance® product portfolio and to simplify the structure of the program track. The best elements of the former CAL courses have been condensed into Certified Agile Leader® 1 (CAL 1™) and Certified Agile Leader® 2 (CAL 2™) so that you get the benefit of all the material from one course.
What if I previously earned more than one CAL Ess/T/O certification?
Eligible students should have had their badges automatically converted to a CAL 1 badge as the previous CAL Essentials, Teams, and Organizations badges have become extinct.
Badges converted to CAL 1 will hold the same ‘Active until’ expiration date as their previous CAL Ess/T/O badge. Any inactive CAL Ess/T/O badges automatically converted to CAL 1 will expire.
What if I previously earned only one CAL Ess/T/O certification?
Students who have only completed a single CAL Ess/T/O course have not successfully met the learning requirements for a CAL 1 badge. Students who hold single CAL certifications are encouraged to take a CAL 1 course.
What if I previously earned the CAL Advanced Education, Validated Practice, and Peer Workshop certification?
The Certified Agile Leader Advanced Education-Validated and Practice Peer Workshop were retired as of April 15, 2024. Students who had successfully met the requirements for completion of both the previous and newly refactored CAL program track received a CAL 1 badge after April 15th and a CAL 2 badge after June 10th, 2024.
What if I previously earned the deprecated CAL I credential?
CAL I credential holders may re-designate to a CAL 1 badge via request to Scrum Alliance Support after April 15, 2024. Re-designation to a CAL 1 badge will include renewal fees and SEU requirements.
