A Certified ScrumMaster® (CSM®) helps the team use the scrum framework effectively to build the product. This person is tasked with fostering an effective working environment and guiding the team to understand the scrum values, principles, and practices. They also help remove barriers that may impact the team’s work, including internal and external distractions.
The CSM course is an introductory course for anyone who is a working or aspiring scrum master. We also recommend the course to anyone new to scrum or an agile way of working. Scrum is applicable across industries and potentially cross-functional teams, so software engineers, business analysts, project managers, and those from other professions that are looking for a better way to solve complex problems are encouraged to attend. You'll learn about the scrum framework, including the roles, accountabilities, and events. The training will also give you hands-on skills that you can immediately apply to your role or professional development.
The first step toward earning certification is to take a CSM course with a Certified Scrum Trainer® (CST®) from Scrum Alliance®. It's typically a two-day, 16-hour live online or in-person course that will teach you about the scrum framework and how to become a successful scrum master. After completing the course, you'll take a test on our website where you will need to correctly answer 37 of the 50 questions. Once you've passed your test, you'll earn your CSM certification that can be downloaded from your Scrum Alliance account.
You can find all available CSM courses by visiting our Course Search page.
