Upon completing the 16-hour Certified ScrumMaster® (CSM®) course, your trainer will create an account for you on the Scrum Alliance® website where you'll be able to take the CSM test. The test is given online and is not proctored or held at an in-person location.
Note: You won't be able to access the CSM test if you didn't take an approved course from a Certified Scrum Trainer® (CST®) from Scrum Alliance. Approved courses may be found on the Course Search page.
The CSM test contains 50 multiple-choice questions based on the CSM Learning Objectives and Scrum Guide. Candidates will have one hour to complete it and must achieve a passing score of at least 74%. You will not be able to pause the test, but questions can be bookmarked to answer later during the 60-minute time limit.
Note: If you require an accommodation to take the CSM test for more than 60 minutes, please put in a request with our support team.
After receiving the initial welcome email from Scrum Alliance that contains the account activation link, you will have 90 days to complete the CSM test at no cost. Candidates are also given two free attempts to pass the CSM test. If you fail the test twice or complete it after the 90-day deadline, you'll be prompted to pay a 25 USD test attempt fee until you pass.
Please note that after the 90 days have passed, there is no need to request an extension. You may take your test after the 90 days following the instructions in the article: How to take the Certified ScrumMaster® (CSM®) test
The CSM test is available to be taken in the following languages: English, Spanish (Castilian), Portuguese, French, Italian, Latin American Spanish, German, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Danish, Czech, Polish, and Russian.
