The Advanced Certified Scrum Master (A-CSM℠) and Advanced Certified Scrum Product Owner (A-CSPO℠) certifications are part of the Path to CSP® (Certified Scrum Professional®), a certification that demonstrates one's experience, documented training, and proven knowledge in the art of Scrum.
Please visit our Certifications in Scrum: What's Your Journey? page for a visual of the different certification tracks that lead to CSP designation.
To earn an A-CSM℠ or A-CSPO℠ certification, students must:
- Hold an active Certified ScrumMaster® (CSM®) or Certified Scrum Product Owner® (CSPO®) certification from Scrum Alliance®; your certification must align with the designation track that you are pursuing. At this time, we do not accept similar certifications from other Scrum-certifying bodies
- Attend an Advanced Certified Scrum Master (A-CSM℠) or Advanced Certified Scrum Product Owner (A-CSPO℠) course with a Scrum Alliance certified trainer or coach
- Submit one year (12 months) of work experience (within the past five years) to their Scrum Alliance certification account specific to the role of Scrum Master or Product Owner. Please note that this requirement can be met before or after attending the required course
- Complete the educator-designed components as determined by your trainer or coach.
Educator-designed components are considered as additional course work that your instructor may require you to complete before earning your advanced certification to ensure their students have a full understanding of the A-CSM or A-CSPO Learning Objectives. These may include homework assignments, quizzes, required readings, presentations, or other tools for assessment as specified by the trainer or coach. Please refer to the class's description on the Course Search page or contact the instructor directly to inquire more about his or her specific requirements.
Once your trainer or coach has approved you as an Advanced Certified Scrum Master (A-CSM℠) or Advanced Certified Scrum Product Owner, your newly earned advanced certification will be available on your Scrum Alliance certification account. Please note that you will not earn the certification until you submit your one year of work experience specific to the role of Scrum Master or Product Owner. Upon submitting work experience, please wait 1-2 business days for your work experience to be approved. You will later receive a confirmation email once your advanced certification is activated on your certification account.
